show me the way

i love to feel this river here
moving on its way
i know my heart could use some movement now
to change these stagnant kind of days

and the fire seems to ask me why
why i started growing cold
yea, well i don't know the reason why
but things get better i am told

so show me the way to find myself a better day
'cause i'm barely holding on
i need You here to wash away these doubts and fears
and hold my hand tight till the dawn

-"show me" by foolish things

hey friends-

whoever said this summer was supposed to be like any other summer was whacked out. in the midst of so many decisions, it's so easy to be drowning in considering alternatives and plan b,c,d, etc ad nauseum.

i know i promised an update, so here's the best i can do.

a few weeks into summer i sat down and calculated the cost and the price of going to USC. turns out it was suuuper expensive for a two-year program (turns out there's a lot more than just tuition when it comes to grad school. vvvtt).

since then, i've been applying to jobs and searching for what i should do with my life, if grad school isn't an option.

and then USC stepped up a little bit and gave me some more money.

i still don't know if i'm for sure going there (i haven't even looked over the new scholarship info), but i do know that i have a lot of options to consider. one of my friends parents graciously offered to pass on my resume to his best friend/CEO for a sweet company in boulder that i would love to work for. and the company i'm tutoring at said that i could tutor chemistry (that flips my lid) with one of my favorite teachers from high school (that, too, flips my lid) if i stayed during the school year.

but when it comes down to it, i just want to do something that binds me closer to the heart of God. i know that looks different for everybody, myself included. so please join me in praying that God shows us the way to find ourselves a better day and hold our hands tight till the dawn.

peace,
chase

PS. just a little food for thought- one of the leaders at my denver small group told me something interesting:
- we have to work (God calls us to do that in Genesis)
- God determines our level of provision (God says that in Matthew)
- we are not needed to do the work that needs to get done
so when it comes down to it, the purpose of our work is to
- live our passion that God has instilled in us and
- to work and live alongside people that God desperately wants us to bring back to Him

thoughts?
